Gravity by Gabriel Gadfly →
gabrielgadfly: Some nights, with all these virgin stars staring at my skin, I want to pull gravity close, touch my lips to the wisps of hair beneath her ear and whisper let me go. It’s not that I resent her gentle arms. It’s just that I often think I’m orbiting the wrong bright star. This poem © Gabriel Gadfly. Published Mar 1, 2011

I’m going to two concerts in Houston during the first weekend in March. The first one is Megadeth, Motorhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil. The second one is Flogging Molly.  I swear Matt is the greatest friend anybody could ever ask for. He bought my tickets and has a place for me to stay and everything. All I have to do is drive myself to Houston. :)  I’m super excited!

From my art textbook: “The association of artists with gods, especially when artists make lifelike works, has inspired legends of rivalry between these two types of creator. For example, the Old Testament account of the Tower of Babel illustrates the dangers of building too high and rivaling God by invading the heavens. God reacted by confounding the speech of the builders so that they...

So, I have a boyfriend now. I met him on New Years Eve because he is a friend of a friend, and he was my designated driver. He’s your stereotypical big Texan redneck logger. Kind of not the guy I’d usually go for, but something about him is just wonderful, and I can’t seem to stay away from him. We’ve spent a good part of the past week together.  We are going hiking this...

Solitude by Gabriel Gadfly →
gabrielgadfly: This is the first night I am lying in the dark without you. The room does not breathe. It does not stir, it does not cough nor sniff, it does not roll over and seek my hand in the middle of the night. It does not wander in the night. It does not wander under the sheets and over naked flesh that yearns for your touch, it does not wake to dawn knocking at the window and...

wilwheaton: “This primal cry for democracy sprang from young people who could no longer ignore the angst in their gut — the premonition that their future does not compute, that their entire lives will be lived in the apocalyptic shadow of climate-change tipping points, species die-offs, a deadening commercialized culture, a political system perverted by money, precarious employment, a struggle...

Fake nuts and free alcohol.
Chocolate covered soy nuts (which are actually just roasted soy beans - imposters!) are my new obsession. They are sooo good. Omnomnom. My end of the year resolution is to have a hangover on New Years Day.This has been a hell of a year, and this is the first New Years Eve that I’ll be legally able to drink at a bar with friends. Even better, free drinks because my friend’s brother is...

Date last night = Amazing.
Neal is a great guy. :) I can’t wait to see him again next week.  The Christmas lights were gorgeous, and the sushi we had was amaaaazing. He also bought me coffee from Starbucks and took me downtown to stand next to the tallest building with him because I’ve always wanted to.  Happyhappyhappyhappy.  Meeting him has definitely given me a new respect for firefighters. He’s...

I have a date tonight.
He’s pretty awesome, and we’ve been talking constantly for about a week. He’s a grad school student who is getting his master’s degree in biology this summer, and a volunteer firefighter. I was kind of shocked that he was interested in me, but we get along amazingly well.  We are going to go to a big rose garden that is lit up for Christmas, and then to a Japanese...

Black Hole Sound Waves →
fuckyeahtheuniverse: Sound waves 57 octaves lower than middle-C are rumbling away from a supermassive black hole in the Perseus cluster. Astronomers using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory have found, for the first time, sound waves from a supermassive black hole. The “note” is the deepest ever detected from any object in our Universe. The tremendous amounts of energy carried by...
